Two teens from opposite sides of the
Interstate find common ground in a dark
family secret.
Daniella Cooper appears to have everything. Money, fashion, a new
car, and the coolest of boyfriends. Yet the students at South Stiles
High aren't impressed. Daniella has returned to the rural county her
mother escaped ten years before. She longs for acceptance in this
place where she's surrounded by tobacco fields instead of shopping
malls.
Devon Jones, a seventeen-year-old African-American and a new
believer in Christ, is trying to break free of his past. But it's tough
when friends and family won't let the past go.
A violent storm brings trouble to both households. Lightning strikes a
tree, which falls through the roof of Devon’s house. The rain erodes
land on the old Cooper Plantation and washes up human remains.
And Devon’s aging grandmother claims there’s blood on her hands.
Uncovering a forty-year-old mystery means Devon and Daniella must
choose between family loyalties and revealing the truth, which could
send loved ones to jail.
